4. Resin Master Model Post-Processing

To ensure Defiant silicone works perfectly with resin prints, follow these critical preparations.

Action

Method & Details

Clean

Wash with 90%+ IPA/Ethanol. Use an ultrasonic bath (5 mins) or a hair-based brush to remove all uncured resin.

Dry

Use a hairdryer to ensure the print is completely dry.

Water Cure

Critical: Cure for at least 30 minutes under a UV light fixture while submerged (do not use sunlight).

Dry

Use a hairdryer to ensure the print is completely dry.

Or use a low-heat oven set to 45Β°C for 10 minutes.(RecommendοΌ‰

Ready

Your master model is now ready for the mold-making process.

5. Defiant Silicone Mixing & Pouring Step

The Defiant series is a two-part platinum silicone with a 1:1 mix ratio.

Action

Method & Details

1. Preparation

Mother mold and clean containers; glass is preferred as it does not inhibit curing.

2. Bottle Mixing

Stir Part A and Part B thoroughly inside their respective bottles before pouring to ensure consistency.

Β

3. Measurement

Use a scale to measure Part A and Part B at a 1:1 ratio by weight.

4. Thorough Mixing

Combine both parts and mix thoroughly, making sure to scrape the walls and bottom of the container.

5. Degassing

While Defiant releases bubbles quickly, vacuum degassing is recommended for the best professional results.

6. Pouring

Pour or brush the mixture over your master model to create the mold.

6. Curing & Environmental Recommendations

  • Operating Temperature: Recommended for use indoors at temperatures above 20Β°C.
  • Pot Life: Approximately 15 minutes.
  • Full Cure Time: 4–6 hours (at 25Β°C ambient temperature).
  • Compatibility: Guaranteed for Siraya Tech resins; 3rd party resins may work but have not been specifically tested.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Silicone remains tacky or liquid near the print surface

This is a classic sign of silicone poisoning. Ensure you follow the water-submerged curing step precisely for at least 30 minutes. If 30 minutes is insufficient, extend the curing time, typically to 30-60 minutes.

  • Localized uncured spots

Often caused by residual resin in deep recesses. For complex models, increase the water-curing time and ensure all IPA has evaporated before pouring silicone.

  • Silicone cures too slowly

Please check your ambient temperature; Defiant requires an indoor environment above 20Β°C for optimal curing speed.

  • Incomplete cure throughout the mold

Ensure Part A and Part B were mixed at a strict 1:1 weight ratio and stirred thoroughly, scraping the sides and bottom.

  • Bubbles in the final mold

While the formula releases bubbles quickly, you may need to degas using a vacuum chamber if working in temperatures below 20Β°C.

  • 3rd party resins compatibility is not guaranteed

We cannot guarantee results with non-Siraya Tech resins. If poisoning occurs with other brands, try applying a specialized primer coating or switch to Siraya Tech Fast, Build, Blu, or Sculpt.
